SOMETHINGS OF BEQUIA

Under blue skies and surrounded by the warm Caribbean Sea Margaret beach and Lower Bay beach is a pleasant walk from Port Elizabeth along the walkway

A lone yacht sits off Margaret beach, The dark outline of reefs visible below the surface of a crystal clear Caribbean Sea nudging against the edge of the empty white sands. It is a great time of year to visit Bequia.

ts 12.45 on a lazy Sunday lunchtime and its such a beautiful day on Bequia we just had to share the view of Lower Bay from The Sweet Retreat with you. By the way that invitingly blue Caribbean Sea is a perfect 28C

Under full sail a five masted ship edges out of Admiralty Bay towards the horizon and destinations unknown

The Friendship Rose, a traditional Caribbean Schooner, was the ferry between Bequia & St Vincent before the cargo, vehicle & passenger carrying ferries arrived, She continues life today offering day trips to Mustique & The Tobago Cays

St Mary's Anglican church in Port Elizabeth was built in 1829 to replace an existing building damaged by a hurricane. Built at a cost of nearly 5,000 pounds (around $20,000 EC) it was a huge amount of money nearly 200 years ago!

Summer is here and across the islands fruit trees are laden or in bloom. These are called plums because they have a similar taste and texture. They are in fact Jocote, they are related to the cashew and not much bigger than a very large olive.
