CONSTITUTION REFORM
This is my idea or simple solution to some of our internal problems. The constitution is out dated and needs to be reformed to meet modern trends while keeping the sacred rights of our citizens in tact.
What I am writing is debatable and I will welcome your feedback here. Make comments and let us lead the way forward.
1. We need to get away from the colonial form of governance with the Queen as our head of State. This calls for a refurendum to change the constitution.
2. There shouldn't be one party controlling the government or any arm of our Assembly.
3. There should be a separate vote of ballot for the persons capable of leading the country. So I suggest that for the Office of Prime Minister, individuals should make themselves available and campaign for that particular Office.
4. There shouls be local government for each constituency and those persons must be elected to run the affair of that constituency. Since the person is elected by the people the Chairman or woman of the constituency will sit in the House of Assembly.
5. The Prime Minister shall chose from among the Chairpersons to head the ministries with their ecperiences.
6. Senators should not meet with elected representatives except there is a joint sitting of the two bodies. I strongly feel that provision must be made to have a three independent senators appointed by the Trade Unions and another by the Private Sector. The third independent senator appointed from the Grenadines.
