Laura Bush, who is a former first lady, recently made a statement saying that no first lady should be paid a salary. She also stated there are many perks that come along with living in the White House. Some of those perks include traveling the world and having a personal chef. Laura discussed her own experience of being a first lady in the White House. She stated that she would read a book and snuggle up with her cat when she wanted to relax.

Laura said that the president of the United States is paid a very nice salary. However, she also said that a first lady does not deserve a salary just because she is the wife of the president. President Obama has discussed how hard his wife works. He stated that his wife deserves to be paid because she works all of the time.

President Obama also stated that being a first lady is a tough job. He said that he feels like his wife should have some sort of compensation for all of the hard work she does. However, there are many people who agree with Laura Bush and believe that first ladies should not be paid a salary.
