The Minister said that samples for testing was sent to Trinidad which returned positive. He however noted that the individual has fully recovered.

News Release
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment received the first confirmation of Zika virus fever in St Vincent and the Grenadines from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) late yesterday afternoon, February 23, 2016. The adult patient has, however, already recovered completely.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has, therefore, taken the appropriate steps to respond to this confirmation, and uses this opportunity to again emphasize that all persons in St Vincent and the Grenadines should protect themselves from mosquito bites and should also ensure that there are no mosquito breeding sites in their environs.
In this regard, the Hon Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment will host a news conference today, Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 2.00 pm, in our main conference room, on the first floor of the Ministerial Building in Kingstown, to update the public on our shared response to this latest development.
A kind invitation is extended to all media houses to cover the proceedings. It would be enormously appreciated if the necessary arrangements could also be made for simultaneous broadcast of the news conference.
