THE GLOW OF COMMUNITY

Sir Godfrey Gregg

The Christmas spirit shines brightest when it is shared beyond our own front doors. It’s in the local choir’s concert at the town hall, the neighbourhood food drive, and the ringing of the Salvation Army bells. This is the season when we remember that we are part of a larger community, a tapestry of lives woven together.

There is a unique warmth that comes from participating in these shared rituals. Singing carols with strangers, donating to a toy drive, attending a tree-lighting ceremony—these acts reinforce our bonds and remind us that we are not alone. We are all navigating the complexities of life, and Christmas offers a universal reason to reach out, to support, and to celebrate together.

Look for ways to connect with your community this week. Attend a local event. Support a small business. Volunteer your time. In lifting up others, we lift up ourselves. The collective glow of a community coming together in kindness and celebration is one of the most beautiful lights of all.
