I write to you from New York wishing you God's blessings throughout this year 2016. Last year we had our many ups and downs and God has brought up through.
The unstability of the last elections is in the forefront for consideration and how we will move the country forward. We do not want to stay behind and watch the other Caribbean countries take the leap.
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago along with Barbados are on the downward spiral in economic growth and we should not join them in the competition. While everything at home is not moving in our favour, we are still out front and we should be in a position to climb this year.
I urge my fellow country citizens to make strides to accept the results of the last elections and show restraints for the further development of SVG. Your actions are not doing good for the people in the diaspora that wast to return home and join in the development of the country. Many nationals that are willing to return home will not if the atmosphere looks daunting and bleek because of the political behaviour.
Our people must understand that the laws are for every citizens and individuals that break them must be prosecuted while the accused has all rights to rigourously defend their actions in the courts. It is time tat the citizens demand their politicians to teach them the law and how to abide in them. These classes MUST be free and in so doing you will produce better followers.
I will suggest that the "Representation of the People's Act" be taught extensively throughout the country. People must know what they are getting involved in and how to defend it should the situation arise. The party in government can lead the way and be the good guys for the start. We need to get back respecting the police like days of old. It seems to me that there is too much lawlessness in the country and it is not good for our development.
I was so sadden that in 2015 we were still taking oath of allegence to the Queen after claiming independence some 36 years ago. Where are our good men and women to stand up and demand change. We have moved towards the Caribbean Court of Justice to replace the Privy Council. What is holding us back from making that next step forward.
Some things to think about in this New Year 2016. I want to wish the Government od Comrade Ralph and the Unity Labour Party a successful term in office and to continue the work of the people. God bless Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and our faith will see us through.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016
